DR Mahathir Mohamad and Parti Warisan Sabah president Mohd Shafie Apdal are in cahoots, as evident in the Pakatan Harapan chairman’s lack of plans to visit the state during the campaign period, said Abdul Rahman Dahlan.
Bernama reported the Barisan Nasional strategic communications director as saying Shafie does not want Dr Mahathir to visit Sabah as it could lead to fewer votes going to Warisan, and that the people might question the former prime minister’s presence in the state.
It was reported that Dr Mahathir had allegedly told a forum in Kuala Lumpur that Sabah and Sarawak folk are lazy, and this is the reason the two states are lagging behind in terms of development.
“Shafie needs to be a gentleman. Inform the Kadazandusun Murut, Chinese and Bajau communities that this candidate (Dr Mahathir) is going to be prime minister,” said Rahman.
“Until today, Dr Mahathir has not set foot in Sabah.
“This is the first time in history that a prime minister candidate is not interested in visiting the people of Sabah and Sarawak.
“Even during his 22 years as prime minister, Sabah and Sarawak were never his priority.” – May 3, 2018.
