NAZRI Abdul Aziz has branded former cabinet ministers who have joined in the chorus of criticism against the government as “hypocrites” who benefitted from Dr Mahathir Mohamad ‘s time in office.
The Umno Supreme Councillor was referring to former finance minister Daim Zainuddin, former international trade and industry minister Rafidah Aziz and former de-facto law minister Rais Yatim.
Nazri said they probably turned against the government which they were previously a part of for personal reasons.
“They were Dr Mahathir’s cronies. They probably got nothing when Najib Razak became prime minister. So, they are very unhappy and are doing this,” he said.
Nazri said he found it ironic that they were campaigning alongside Pakatan Harapan (PH).
“They are (now) a part of PKR and DAP which was once against them. To me, these people are all irrelevant and are just tools for the opposition. It’s a joke. They have no credibility,” he said.
Since Monday, Daim has hit the campaign trail for PH while Rafidah, who has been sniping at the government over a slew of issues, endorsed the opposition coalition a few days ago.
Rais has also expressed reservations about the way Putrajaya has handled the 1MDB scandal and on Monday lashed out at the Election Commission for removing Dr Mahathir’s image from opposition billboards. – May 3, 2018.
