AHMAD Bashah Md Hanipah has dismissed Daim Zainuddin’s prediction that Kedah may fall to Pakatan Harapan as an old man’s wishful thinking.

At the same time, the caretaker menteri besar implied that Daim’s prediction was like those made by the Paul the Octopus, an octopus at a German marine park that successfully predicted match outcomes in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

“But he is old now. His prediction is a ‘squid’s prediction’ (‘ramalan sotong’),” Bashah said after meeting Chinese civil society groups at Dewan Sri Mentaloon in Alor Setar, Kedah.

Daim also predicted in an interview with Nanyang Siang Pau that BN would fall in Perak and Selangor and that PH would retain Penang.

He said that the opposition had an even chance in Sabah and Johor.

Bashah said Daim never had any influence even when he was in Umno.

“He is just like Dr Mahathir (Mohamad). They come to Kedah by jet and never deal with the grassroots. How would they know the grassroots?” he asked.

Daim had predicted the fall of the BN state governments in 2008 and said that it would retake Kedah in 2013, but would not regain its super majority. – May 3, 2018.
