CARETAKER deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has hit out at former finance minister Daim Zainuddin for attacking Barisan Nasional, Sinar Harian reports today.

Daim had called BN candidates using the dacing (weighing scales) symbol liars.

Zahid said the statement was akin to a self-attack as he was one of the leaders who enjoyed victory under the same symbol.

“In fact, the same party made the person a finance minister but now that he has his own agenda on behalf of his cronies, he has contradicted himself,” he said at an event in Kg Banang, Hutan Melintang, yesterday.

He also accused Daim of harbouring hatred towards the party after his son failed to be elected as one of Umno’s vice-presidents.

“Others can wait 30 or 40 years. Leadership is about what the people want, not an individual’s wish, not stabbing BN in the back. We have to know that we become great not as an individual but because of the party that upholds us, Umno and BN and component parties.”

Daim is showing his support for Pakatan Harapan by appearing at the opposition’s events, such as those held by Mohamed Azmin Ali and Fahmi Fadzil.

During his speech at an opposition event in Pendang, Daim urged voters to cross the eye symbol (opposition) as he claimed that BN (dacing) are liars as reported in a pro-opposition portal. – May 3, 2018.
