PAKATAN Harapan needs to capture the Felda and Sabah votes to win the elections, Daim Zainuddin said today.
The former finance minister predicted that if the Barisan Nasional safe deposits of Felda and Sabah fall, it would be a clear-cut win for PH.
“If we get Felda and Sabah, we will win. That is where they (BN) are scared of,” he said in Pekan, Pahang, today.
Daim is known for his predictions since the 2008 general election when he said there would be big swing towards the opposition.
There are 25 parliamentary seats in Sabah and 52 seats in Felda settlements, which is the Malay heartland.
He said the most noticeable swing in support would be from Sabah and Johor.
“There will be a big change in Sabah. It will be a change in the government. There have been several changes to the state government previously,” Daim said.
For Johor, Daim said the ground is ready for a change but it is up to the PH leaders to convince the voters.
“In Johor, there will be a change if Muhyiddin Yassin defends his seat and PH works hard.
“There is a mood for change. The government has done a lot of wrong there. People cannot take it.”
The other states still hanging in the balance are Perak, Negri Sembilan and Kedah, Daim added.
Pahang will once again go to BN. Selangor and Penang will remain with the opposition.
Daim said he will not discuss Sarawak and Malacca as he has not been there yet to gauge the sentiment on the ground.
Tomorrow, he travels to Malacca to campaign for PH, alongside former international trade and industry minister Rafidah Aziz and PH chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad. – May 3, 2018.
