THEY were asked to honk to show support for Hannah Yeoh, but some stopped to donate.
The highway was busy, but that did not hinder several motorists from stopping to donate or take selfies with her this morning at the LDP intersection near Desa Park City.
The PKR Segambut candidate and her team were at the intersection for a flash mob. The group stood there for about an hour waving PKR flags and banners asking motorists to honk to show support.
All who drove past obliged. But some stopped, took selfies and gave money for her campaign.
The event was streamed live on Yeoh’s Facebook page, garnering 4,200 views.
Several Desa Park City residents alerted by the live stream hurried to the event to take part. Some asked how they could help.
“Our team is made up of volunteers. It is safe to conclude that people are sick and tired of the Najib Razak administration and people really want change,” Yeoh told Malaysia Decides.
This is the second day of Yeoh’s flash mob, which will take place daily until polling day at “strategic locations around Segambut”.
“I’m getting messages from people on Instagram saying they are based in London and they are Segambut voters and this time they are flying back to cast their vote,” she said.
Yeoh is in a three-cornered fight against Loga Bala Mohan Jaganathan from MyPPP and Mohd Solleh Abdul Karim from PAS.
Segambut was held by DAP’s Lim Lip Eng for two terms starting 2008. He won the seat 19,199 votes in 2013.
According to the Election Commission’s data, Segambut has 77,956 voters, 27.53% of which are Malay, 58.93% Chinese and 11.77% Indian. – May 3, 2018.
