DR Mahathir Mohamad and Daim Zainuddin will share the stage for the first time this campaign period today, speaking to voters in Pekan, Pahang, whose incumbent MP is caretaker prime minister Najib Razak.

Ironically, the two of them campaigned for Najib in Pekan in GE13.

Pakatan Harapan has named Dr Mahathir, who is contesting the Langkawi parliamentary seat, its prime minister candidate.

Daim, known to be a behind-the-scenes operator, has come out in recent days to campaign for the PH opposition coalition.

The former finance minister has openlyo championed PH candidates such as caretaker Selangor menteri besar Azmin Ali, Lembah Pantai’s PKR candidate Fahmi Fadzil, Pendang candidate Wan Saiful Wan Jan, and in Pekan, Bersatu’s Zahid Mat Arip.

The former banker’s grouse with the Najib administration is that it has failed to implement financial and economic policies beneficial to the country.

Daim also intends to campaign for Dr Mahathir in Langkawi, where Daim had formerly headed the development authority.

Former international trade and industry minister Rafidah Aziz has also made it clear she is rooting for PH this time around.

All three former ministers are set to make an appearance in Malacca tomorrow for a mega ceramah. – May 3, 2018.
