THE winner of the 14th general election is whichever party that is able to tackle the issue of Felda and young voters, predicts former finance minister Daim Zainuddin.
“But first, you must have good candidates with integrity and no corruption and then the rakyat will trust you,” said Daim.
The second is to win the support of rural folk, especially Felda voters. Felda is considered Barisan Nasional’s vote bank.
The third, Daim said, is to win over young voters.
“Nearly 40% of the voters is between 20 and 40 years old and whoever can swing that, will win,” he said after attending a Pakatan Harapan ceramah in Kg Kerinchi, Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.
This is Daim’s second appearance on behalf of the opposition. He was in Kedah over the weekend in support of his former boss, Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
In Kg Kerinchi, Daim urged the crowd of about 200 to vote out Najib Razak and BN if they want to know what happened to the funds collected from the goods and services tax.
“Vote them out then only we can know what happened to the GST. They collected RM40 billion but only RM7 billion has been returned to the people in the form of BR1M (1Malaysia People’s Aid). Where is the rest? If you want to know what happened to the money, then vote them out.”
He also told the crowd to give PH a five-year mandate to spur economic growth and clean up the government.
“Just five years and if they fail, you can always vote them out.” – May 3, 2018.
