MOHD Shafie Apdal loves his brother, but wants the Sabah chief minister out of office.
The Parti Warisan Sabah president said to make this happen, Lahad Datu voters must show the door to Silam Umno chief Yusof Apdal.
“If you vote for my brother, the chief minister will be Musa Aman. If you vote for Dumi (Pengiran Masdal, the Warisan candidate for Lahad Datu), I will be chief minister.
“The special rights of the state belong to Sabahans, not my brother. I love him. He is my little brother, and I love him just as much as I love (my first cousin) Nasir (Sakaran),” said Shafie, in appealing to Lahad Datu voters to pick Warisan come May 9.
Yusof retained the seat by 8,414 votes in the last elections.
Nasir, meanwhile, will face Shafie in the Senallang state seat.
Shafie said as Warisan president, he puts the interests of Sabahans above everything else, adding that he will not be like Barisan Nasional leaders, who prioritise their families’ interests.
He also spoke about the controversy involving his family members who are in BN, who rejected him for questioning caretaker prime minister Najib Razak on the 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal when he (Shafie) was still Umno vice-president.
“Dont be like Najib, who accused me of stabbing him in the back. I was only giving advice as a friend, to take action in the 1MDB scandal. Instead, I was suspended from Umno.
“How many years has Najib known Jho Low? And, how many years has he known me?”
Shafie and Yusof had been remanded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission for more than a week as part of the agency’s probe into the alleged embezzlement of funds at the Rural and Regional Development Ministry, which Shafie used to head. – May 3, 2018.
