Gobind fires up Chaah Indians in Johor

IN the Indian quarter of Labis, DAP deputy chairman Gobind Singh Deo fired up the crowd by asking if their lives were better despite the government’s “Indian blueprint”.

“Ahead of the elections BN rolled out the Indian blueprint promising millions of ringgit’s worth of goodies.

“But are your lives better one year later?” said the Puchong MP at a ceramah in the town of Chaah in the parliamentary constituency of Labis.

Gobind told the crowd of about 800 people the opposition had asked questions about 1Malaysian Development Bhd in Parliament but were repeatedly stopped by Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia.

“We tried but it was BN that stopped us from questioning what happened to 1MDB. But while we were asking these questions, do you know what MIC and MCA were doing? They kept quiet,” said Gobind.

He told the Chaah voters that if BN were re-elected as government, it would make sure the 1MDB case was buried and forgotten.

Other speakers included Pakatan candidates Pang Hock Liong (Labis),  Solihan Badri (Tenang) and S. Ramakrishnan (Bekok).

Chaah is under the Bekok state constituency, which along with Tenang, is under the Labis parliamentary constituency.

In 2013, DAP’s Lim Eng Guan won Bekok after polling 53.2% of the votes while Tenang went to BN candidate Mohd Azahar Ibrahim. Deputy finance minister Chua Tee Yong defeated Ramakrishnan by 353 votes to take Labis. – May 2, 2018.
