DON’T trust everything people put up in social media, said Najib Razak, following PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s victory against Sarawak report.
The caretaker prime minister said there was much slander being circulated in social media and what Sarawak Report wrote about Umno and PAS is an example.
“Sarawak Report lost its London case. It slandered PAS when it claimed the party had received RM90 million from Umno,” he said.
“This has been proven wrong in court. They do not have any proof. It simply means don’t believe everything published in social media,” he said in a campaign speech in Puncak Alam this morning.
The Islamist party is claiming moral victory in the case after Sarawak Report editor Claire Rewcastle-Brown was ordered to pay £41,400 (RM221,000) to Hadi after the latter won an interlocutory application.
The decision, however, is not on the suit itself, which claimed that Sarawak Report had defamed Hadi over the RM90 million allegation.
The full trial is expected to be held between April 1 and April 10 next year. – May 2, 2018.
