Zahid promises houses in Kuala Langat if BN wins

CARETAKER deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has promised more development for Kuala Langat if Barisan Nasional wins.

He says he will do this in 120 days, promising new houses and low-cost flats for voters there currently living in squatter areas.

“I will meet with the prime minister if we win Kuala Langat, and I’m confident that he will approve any development here.

“I promise that if we win, I will come back here in 120 days after the election to personally make sure the low-cost flats are built here,” Zahid said at an event in Kuala Langat today.

He was there to campaign for first-time Umno candidate Shahril Hamdan, who is contesting the seat.

Zahid was referring to plots of undeveloped land around Pulau Carey, where many constituents, especially Orang Asli and Indians, did not have proper homes.

The acting Umno deputy president also said that he would set up a village in Kuala Langat for Indians displaced from the estates being developed.

He said he would discuss with Sime Darby, a major palm oil estate player with plantations in the area, to allocate land for an Indian village.

“A lot of estates are being taken up to build houses and townships. I will discuss with Sime Darby about having a settlement for (displaced) estate workers to live here.

“I will come back in 120 days to make sure this is done,” he said. – May 1, 2018.
