AFTER his teaser appearance at a ceramah by Azmin Ali last night, Daim Zainuddin came out today to pitch for Pakatan Harapan in his home state of Kedah.

The former finance minister’s message was simple: vote for the future of your children and grandchildren.

“We have to remember that our votes this time are for the future of our children and grandchildren. They are important. Don’t make a mistake.

“We must choose Dr Mahathir to solve our problems. Don’t make a mistake. Pick PH. Our future lies with PH.

“Insya Allah, on May 9, we will go out and vote for PH. On May 10, we will have a new government,” the 80-year-old told the people of Pendang at the PH-organised gathering.

Daim, a close ally of Dr Mahathir since their days in federal government together, is among a handful of former government strongmen who have been showing support for PH in this election.

Daim previously said he would help PH as an adviser if the opposition coalition formed the next government.

The reclusive banker-turned-politician has been less vocal than others, such as Umno stalwarts Rafidah Aziz and Rais Yatim, but his support for PH hints at a divide within the ruling party over caretaker prime minister Najib Razak’s government. – May 1, 2018.
