I'm a new face no more, says PKR's Fahmi

PKR’s candidate for Lembah Pantai Fahmi Fadzil said he has been receiving more recognition in the area as compared to before despite being relatively new.

He said he had attended a number of weddings and social events where more people had came up to him for a photo.

“I think many of people recognised that there is another (new) face. I think it has gotten a lot better,” he told Malaysia Decides.

Admitting that there is still a lot to be done for the campaign, Fahmi said the team has however broken through in getting the people in Lembah Pantai to know who him as a candidate.

Previously, Malaysia Decides had reported that people in the low-cost flat areas in Lembah Pantai claimed they are still not familiar with Fahmi as compared to Raja Nong Chik Zainal Abidin.

During a closed-door event between Fahmi and a small neighbourhood community in Bangsar, residents showed their strong support for Fahmi and rebutted claims that he is unknown to Lembah Pantai.

A long-time resident who only wished to be named as Johnny said he has been attending Fahmi’s events for quite some time and Fahmi is recognised by many in the area.

“He is not new. I’ve followed him around and he is doing a great job.

“Maybe he still needs to do a lot more in the low-cost flat areas,” said Johnny who has been living there for almost 40 years.

Another resident who only wanted to be named as Liew said Fahmi connects well with the people in the area.

“He is very good. He interacts well with the people and does his best to help everyone,” she said.

Fahmi, a first-time candidate for Lembah Pantai, will be contesting against another first-timer from PAS, Fauzi Abu Bakar, and BN’s Raja Nong Chik, who will be contesting for the second time. – May 1, 2018.
