THE Education Ministry said it would audit sports equipment in schools to ensure student safety.
Its minister Fadhlina Sidek said this was in line with the ministry’s 1Student, 1Sport (1M1S) policy.
“Sports development facilities should be given a focus. Apart from sport-related allocations, the ministry is mulling how to ensure sports equipment (in schools) can be audited so it is safe for students,” she told Bernama after officiating SJKC Serdang’s Soon Ah Koon synthetic field in Serdang today.
She said the 1M1S policy would be expanded to foster a culture of sports from the early education level.
“We are also trying as much as possible to make sports a unifying medium among students,” she said.
Fadhlina congratulated SJKC Serdang on obtaining sponsorship to improve its sports facilities.
“The synthetic field, with a cost of over RM700,000, will have a big impact on the development of children’s sports,” she said. – Bernama, October 29, 2023.
