THE Negri Sembilan police have opened four investigation papers on the 14th general election since nomination day.
Bernama reported contingent headquarters GE14 media relations officer, DSP Mazrin Mahmud, as saying that three of the papers were opened in Seremban and the other in Jempol.
He said in Seremban, two investigation papers involved the use of the social media to issue defamatory statements and causing anger and annoyance to the people and individuals.
“Both cases are being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code, or Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.”
Mazrin said another investigation paper opened in the same district was on a case of a drone flown at the nomination centre without a valid licence from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), which is being investigated under Section 447 of the Penal Code or Section 143 (1) of the Malaysian Aviation Regulations.
“The police confiscated the drone because the act was considered trespassing on a restricted area of the nomination centre.
“CAAM informed that it had not issued any licence for drones to be flown during GE14.
“We advise the public to first request permission from CAAM to obtain a licence to fly (the drone) because we will not prevent any supporter from requesting permission,” he said.
Mazrin said the last investigation paper involved a case of mischief against the district polling centre in Jempol, which is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code. – May 1, 2018.
