THE church is non-partisan, but it is the moral duty of every Christian Malaysian to vote responsibly in the 14th general election, said the Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) today.
Chairman Archbishop Julian Leow Beng Kim called on all Christians in the country to vote on May 9, saying it is also their civic duty as Malaysians.
“The church is non-partisan, but for us Christians who are citizens of Malaysia, voting responsibly in GE14 is a moral duty,” he said in a statement.
He reminded Christians to be discerning when choosing their candidates and take into consideration the latter’s policies.
“For each choice made, there are consequences, good or bad. Let us, therefore, discern and choose wisely the leaders who will govern us, so that we may prosper and rejoice as a nation.”
He urged the people to question candidates on their policies, and to ensure that their elected representatives abide by the federal constitution to safeguard the nation’s freedoms.
CFM has produced a short video clip urging Malaysians, especially Christians, to cast their votes next week. – April 30, 2018.
