FOLK of Sementa in Selangor may no longer struggle to find jobs as the Barisan Nasional election candidate for the state seat has pledged to do all he can to boost the local economy via an agricultural and eco-tourism programme.
Saroni Judi, a first-time candidate is facing incumbent PKR’s Dr Daroyah Alwi, PAS’s Wan Hasrina Wan Hassan and PSM’s N. Gandhi Rajan at the poll.
“Sementa is an area in the outskirts of Selangor. The price of land here is expensive; impossible for the folk here to buy land to grow palm trees as it is not viable. So why not plant rock melon and orchids that are easily produced en masse and can generate a huge income for the farmers,” said Saroni
That is if the voters help him and BN to win the seat.
He also promised to give all 14 fishing jetties in the district tax-exempt status.
“I will also introduce food tourism like we have in Malacca. So you can make day trips here to enjoy fresh seafood, no need to travel far to Malacca,” he said.
Saroni said although he was a newcomer, he had heard talk that the PKR representative was not doing her job well.
“I have heard that Daroyah did not perform well. As a newcomer, my advantage is I do not have excess baggage unlike those who have served the area” he added.
Saroni is one of the new faces BN is fielding in Selangor to help wrest the state from PKR.
The Sementa state seat is in Kapar constituency.
There are 124,000 voters in Kapar. – April 30, 2018.
