BARISAN Nasional’s M. Kayveas today retracted his resignation letter, saying his “sacking” by MyPPP was done without due process.
Kayveas resigned as party president, as well as from all other party posts, in a letter dated April 23. However, MyPPP secretary-general K. Mohan then said the party had given Kayveas the boot.
Kayveas had insisted that he be given the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat to contest in the 14th general election, in defiance of the BN leadership.
“We need to restore respect and credibility. The party needs to be cleaned up. It cannot be allowed to be done the way it was done,” he said on Instagram and Twitter.
“Therefore, I have no alternative, but to withdraw my earlier peaceful and amicable intention to step down, which was refused by the supreme council, and resume all my duties.”
Mohan had earlier said the decision to sack Kayveas was made by the MyPPP disciplinary board on April 24.
Kayveas insists that he cannot be removed as party president without the approval of a general assembly or extraordinary general assembly.
MyPPP is one of BN’s smaller component parties. It has been given only one seat to contest in GE14, Segambut. – April 30, 2018.
