Kapar win not a given, Shahrizat tells BN machinery

WHILE Barisan Nasional is likely to win the Kapar federal seat and the two state seats under it, the coalition must continue to ensure supporters are not swayed by the drama created by the opposition, said Wanita Umno head Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.

She said unity in BN must be at the highest level going into the 14th general election, and the machinery must work hard to “take care of ‘white’ and ‘grey-white’ voters”.

“Keep the ‘white’ voters in check. Secure them. Remember, there will always be attacks from the opposition. The drama and slanderous comments are coming from the other side, so take care of (BN’s) ‘white’ and ‘grey-white’ voters,” she told the BN machinery today in Kg Sungai Serdang in the Semanta state seat.

BN labels “hardcore” voters as “white” voters and fence-sitters as “grey” voters, while those who oppose the ruling coalition are deemed “black” voters.

In Semanta, BN’s Saroni Judi will face incumbent Dr Daroyah Alwi of PKR, PAS’ Wan Hasrina Wan Hassan and Parti Sosialis Malaysia’s N. Gandhi Rajan.

In GE13, Dr Daroyah won by 7,846 votes, beating BN’s Md Ghazali Md Amin, as well as independent Thuraisingam Subbrayan.

Earlier today, Shahrizat said BN’s women candidates have proven track records in serving the people.

In Selangor, BN’s women candidates are contesting eight seats, of which one is a parliamentary seat.

MIC’s Mohana Muniandy will fight it out with PAS’ Dr Abdul Rani Osman, PKR’s Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid and Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s S. Manikavasagam in Kapar, which has 124,000 voters. – April 30, 2018.
