Sole MCA candidate in Kelantan eyes votes from youth, veterans

EMPOWERING youth and veterans is how MCA’s sole candidate in Kelantan hopes to win over voters in the 14th general election.

Bernama reported Chua Hock Kuan, who is contesting the Kota Lama state seat, as saying he will push for the construction of a complex where the two groups can carry out sport and cultural activities should he be given the mandate in the PAS-held seat.

“I started approaching voters in 2016 after MCA sent me to help out in the constituency. The campaign period is a week of revision for me, as most of the voters already know me,” he said after a gathering with the Chinese community in Kg Limau Manis, Kota Baru, last night.

“I won’t take the approach of attacking the other contenders. Instead, I will raise issues like clogged drains and garbage-related problems.”

He said the Chinese in Kota Lama are increasingly warming up to Barisan Nasional, as evident in their support for MCA.

Chua will fight it out with Anuar Tan Abdullah (PAS), Ab Rashid Ab Rahman (Pakatan Harapan), Khairul Nizam Abd Ghani (Parti Sosialis Malaysia) and Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary (independent). – April 30, 2018.
