Guan Eng appeals to Sarawak Malays to join 'tsunami'

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng today appealed to the Malays in Sarawak to be a part of the Malay tsunami that is gaining momentum in many parts of the country.

The Penang chief minister, who was speaking at the event, “Afternoon with Lim Guan Eng” gathering in Kuching, said a Malay tsunami in Sarawak would guarantee the defeat of Prime Minister Najib Razak and his kleptocratic Barisan Nasional coalition government.

“We can win on May 9. To win, it (the Malay tsunami) should not only be in the peninsula,” he told the packed crowd at the RH Siang Siang food court near the Kuching International Airport.

“Warisan can win Sabah and now Pakatan Harapan needs Sarawak’s (Malays’) help.

Parti Warisan Sabah is led by sacked rural and regional development minister, Shafie Apdal.

Lim said in the peninsula, the political tsunami that started in the 2008 general election is gaining stronger momentum.

He said once upon a time, DAP or any opposition parties would be chased out if they dared venture into any Malay village in the peninsula to hold a ceramah.

He said even if they were not chased out, the turnout would be so paltry that “there would be more speakers than the crowd”.

He said the reverse was true now in “Umno stronghold, Johor”.

“In a recent PH ceramah in Pasir Gudang, 15,000 people – 90% of them Malays – turned up. And in Muar, 12,000 turned up and 75% of them are Malays.

“Malay voters in the peninsula want change.” – April 29, 2018.
