A BILLBOARD in Yong Peng, Johor, bearing the faces of caretaker prime minister Najib Razak, his wife Rosmah Mansor, and Ayer Hitam candidate Wee Ka Siong was removed by the Election Commission after it was vandalised.
Rosmah’s face had been spray-painted with red paint.
In a video circulating online, a man wearing a light blue t-shirt with “Harapan” written on the front was seen vandalising the billboard.
DAP Gelang Patah candidate Liew Chin Tong admitted that Pakatan Harapan had put up the billboard that said “Undi Wee Ka Siong = Undi Najib dan Rosmah” (A Vote for Wee Ka Siong = A Vote for Najib and Rosmah).
Liew accused the EC of double standards, questioning why another billboard showing MCA president Liow Tong Lai shaking hands with Chinese premier Xi Jinping was not removed.
“The EC has to explain why they took down the billboard. This is not fair. Why wasn’t their billboard taken down?” he asked.
Liew maintained that the billboard PH put up did not negatively impact Najib or his wife, and did not break any laws. – April 29, 2018.
