Najib takes care of us, say soldiers at Pahang camp

CARETAKER prime minister Najib Razak’s visit to the army camp in Batu 10, Kuantan, today was a festive affair.

Soldiers at the camp were treated to lunch with the Barisan Nasional chairman and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, after he gave them a closed-door briefing, where he told them not to believe the “fake news” spread by the opposition.

During the visit, a Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat sale was held, with basic necessities sold at rock-bottom prices. A can of sardines cost 20 sen, a 5kg bag of rice (RM10.99) and 1kg of cooking oil (RM2.39).

The soldiers’ families were also rewarded, with workbooks given out to children aged between 7 and 12.

A soldier praised Najib for taking good care of members of the armed forces since coming into power.

“He has done a lot for us. He takes care of us and our families well.”

Another soldier said: “Things are really expensive now. We soldiers have trouble paying for things. So, events like this (Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat) ease our burden.”

The Batu 10 camp is located in Najib’s constituency in Pekan. He is defending the seat in a four-cornered fight with PAS, PKR and an independent candidate. – April 29, 2018.
