Last chance to kick out BN, Pakatan pleads with voters

PAKATAN Harapan is pleading with voters to come out in full force and vote on May 9 – now referred as 509.

Despite hammering home about corruption, abuse of power, the 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal and its election promises, PH leaders are beseeching voters to turn out in record numbers.

PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said in a mega-ceramah in Bagan, Penang, yesterday that a low voter turnout could lead to a loss for PH these elections.

“Come out and vote this May 9. Otherwise, Barisan Nasional and (caretaker prime minister) Najib Razak will remain in Putrajaya,” said Lim, who is also PH deputy president and Penang caretaker chief minister.

“Frankly, this is our last chance. After 61 years, let us not let this chance slip or we may have to wait another 61 years.

“I can’t wait. (PH chairman) Dr Mahathir Mohamad also cannot,” he said, referring to the 92-year-old former prime minister turned opposition leader.

Dr Mahathir’s activist daughter Marina Mahathir, who was also a speaker, also urged the people to vote on May 9.

“Tell all your friends. We need a high turnout, so we can prevent cheating on polling day.”

Polling day falls on a Wednesday. Although declared a public holiday, the mid-week day is expected to present problems for many outstation voters trying to return home to vote.

Penang DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow said if voters across Malaysia from Perlis to Sabah all stood up together on May 9, there would be no stopping change from happening to give Malaysia a government that would give the people hope and a better future for their children. – April 29, 2018.
