SEVEN MCA members who are contesting as candidates for other parties and as independents in the 14th general election have been given the boot, reported Bernama.
Another five members were also sacked for being proposers and seconders to the candidates.
Party disciplinary board chairman Chor Chee Heung said the seven are Tebrau MCA’s Ting Choon Hai and Lim Yak Hong, who are running as independents in the Puteri Wangsa state seat; Tee Boon Tsong (Pulai MCA) and Ng Yak Howe (Bakri MCA), who are contesting as DAP candidates in the Senai and Bentayan state seats, respectively; Chin Kwai Heng and Chin Kwai Leong (Batu Gajah MCA), who are contesting as Parti Sosialis Malaysia candidates in the Tronoh and Menglembu state seats, respectively; and, a Bukit Mertajam MCA member, who is standing as a PKR candidate in Kulim.
“We found the 12 members guilty of violating Article 22 of the party constitution. Their action affects the party’s image and can be regarded as sabotaging the Barisan Nasional candidates contesting in those areas,” he said in Alor Star today.
He said the decision to sack the 12 was made last night, with the consent of the party’s presidential council. – April 29, 2018.
