Get my name right on ballot papers, Muhyiddin tells EC

PAGOH candidate Muhyiddin Yassin wants the Election Commission to use the correct spelling of his name on the ballot paper.

He said today the EC listed his name on its website as per his MyKad.

“My name on my IC is Mahiaddin bin Md Yasin. But for years, I have used the name Muhyiddin Yassin, because that’s the name people know me by and that’s what I wrote down on the ballot paper.”

But now the Bersatu president fears the EC may use the MyKad spelling on the ballot paper.

“I want them to correct this mistake before they print the ballot papers. I don’t want the voters to get confused,” he said at a morning walkabout in Bukit Gambir today.

“For years, I’ve been going by Muhyiddin Yassin, I’m curious why this was not reflected on the EC website.”

He has asked his representatives to inform the EC and submit a request to correct the mistake.

Muhyiddin, who is contesting for the eighth time in Pagoh, will be facing a three-cornered fight against Barisan Nasional’s Ismail Mohamed and Ahmad Nawfal (PAS). In 2013, he won the seat by 12,842 votes.

At the state level in Bukit Gambir, he will be facing BN incumbent A. Asojan and Mohfodz Mohamed (PAS). – April 29, 2018.
