BARISAN Nasional (BN) members in Segambut ensured they gathered a huge crowd to follow their candidate Loga Bala Mohan to the nomination centre by providing free breakfast, goodie bags and BN t-shirts.
Almost eight buses full of supporters, young and old, flooded Jalan Beringin, Bukit Damansara, where the BN candidate gathered his troops before walking to the nomination centre.
Supporters were desperate to get their hands on the free items and some were even tussling to get hold of them.
On the other hand, Pakatan Harapan’s Hannah Yeoh gathered her supporters at the National Science Centre and was made to walk 2km to the nomination centre, while PAS gathered their people at Jalan Chemperai, Bukit Damansara.
“We got a very difficult route. This route was assigned to us by the police and it has uphills and downhills, but the residents here came along and we had fun walking,” Hannah Yeoh said.
Meanwhile, the police’s decision to cordon off roads caused unhappiness among residents as they were forced to take alternate routes to their homes.
One elderly gentleman, who declined to be named, was arguing with the police because they denied him walking past the nomination centre to head home. After almost 10 minutes of confrontation, he was escorted to his home.
It will be a three-cornered battle for the Segambut parliamentary seat between Loga Bala, Yeoh and PAS’ Mohd Solleh Ab Razak. – April 28, 2018.
