POLLING for the Pelangai by-election, which began at 8am, concluded at 6pm.

All ballot boxes from the streams would be sent to the tallying centre at Dewan Orang Ramai Felda Kemasul in Bentong.

Results were expected to be announced at 9pm.

At 4pm, the Election Commission (EC) said voter turnout was at 64%.

There were 16,456 eligible voters in Pelangai, including 73 postal and three overseas absentee voters.

No early voting centres were opened in Pelangai as the EC issued postal ballots for early voters.

The Pelangai by-election saw a three-cornered fight between Barisan Nasional’s Amizar Abu Adam, Perikatan Nasional’s Kasim Samat and Independent candidate Haslihelmy DM Zulhasni. – Bernama, October 7, 2023.
