PENAMPANG will see a four-cornered fight between Barisan Nasional, Parti Warisan Sabah, Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Sabah Star) in the 14th general election.
Caesar Mandela, a first-time candidate for BN component United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko), will go up against incumbent and Warisan No. 2 Darell Leiking, who is also his cousin.
Anak Negeri’s Dr Edwin Bosi, who is Kapayan state seat incumbent, and Sabah Star’s Cleftus Stephen Spine are the other two candidates.
The Moyog seat will also see a four-cornered fight, involving incumbent Donald Peter Mojuntin of Upko, PKR’s Jenifer Lasimbang, Parti Cinta Sabah’s Denis J. Tunding and Sabah Star’s Danim @ Aloysius Siap.
In Kapayan, BN will field state MCA deputy chief Francis Goh, who will battle it out with DAP’s Jannie Lasimbang and Sabah Star’s Chong Pit Fah.
In the last general election, Bosi won the Kapayan seat on a DAP ticket.
There are 53,131 voters in Penampang, with 42% comprising those under 40 years old, according to Election Commission statistics. – April 28, 2018.
