Bersatu claims disqualified candidate no longer a bankrupt

The Malaysian Insight

BERSATU is puzzled as to why its Bukit Pasir candidate, Pizi Jihat, was disqualified for bankruptcy when his documents showed otherwise, said party president Muhyiddin Yassin.

Muhyiddin, who was named as candidate for the Pagoh federal seat today, said Pizi had resolved his bankruptcy and handed over documents to prove it to the party.

“Before he was selected, we vetted his background and there was a bankruptcy case. But before he was picked as a candidate, he had already resolved the issue.”

A search in the Department of Insolvency website, clearing Pizi, was included in the nomination filing to the returning officer in Pagoh, said Muhyiddin.

“But when the RO saw it, he said his checks showed that Pizi was still a bankrupt. We are puzzled as to which one is true and we asked for the RO check the status again.

“But still he decided to reject the nomination.

“I’m disappointed with what had happened and we will check the reasons for this again. But from the records given to us, there is no reason he should have been disqualified,” said Muhyiddin, who will be contesting Pagoh for the eighth time in GE14.

Pizi’s nomination for the Bukit Pasir was disqualified by RO Zainor Adani leaving the seat to be contested by Barisan Nasional and PAS.

Zainor, however, refused to speak to reporters after announcing the candidates when asked why Pizi was disqualified. – April 28, 2018.
