BARISAN Nasional Rantau incumbent Mohamad Hasan has won the Negri Sembilan state seat uncontested, after the opposition candidate was prevented from entering the nomination hall today.

Bernama reported that returning officer Amino Agos Suyub declared Mohamad the winner of the seat he had held since 2004.

PH candidate Streram Sinnasamy, of PKR, did not have his candidate’s pass issued by the Election Commission, The Star reported.

His proposer and seconder, who did not bring their EC passes either, were prevented from entering the nomination centre at Dewan Seri Rembau.

The situation at the nomination centre became tense when Streram and his supporters protested against the police for preventing him, his proposer, and seconder from entering the centre after having arrived there at 8am.

Mohamad, the Negri Sembilan BN chief and and three-term Menteri Besar, retained the seat in the last general election in 2013, with a 4,613-vote majority in a straight fight with Aisah Lamsah of PKR.

Nominations will only be confirmed and announced by the EC by midday. – April 28, 2018.
