Pakatan replaces candidate for Bukit Melawati state seat

The Malaysian Insight

PAKATAN Harapan’s candidate for the Bukit Melawati state seat was replaced this morning after it was discovered she is not a Selangor resident.

Sivamalar Ganapathy, from Pahang, did not update her MyKad with an address in Selangor, which is a requirement for anyone contesting a state seat.

She was replaced by Jawariyah Zulkifli.

Amanah strategic director Dr Dzulkifli Ahmad, who is contesting the Kuala Selangor parliamentary seat, confirmed the switch.

He said the change was made immediately after the matter was found out.

Candidates contesting state seats must have addresses in the state, but those contesting parliamentary seats are not bound by this rule. – April 28, 2018.
