PAS sets army vet against Najib in Pekan

The Malaysian Insight

PAS has fielded a former army man in Pekan, Pahang, to take on Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Former soldier Ahiatudin Daud, the PAS commissioner for Pekan, was ordered by the party to contest the seat despite rumours that he was reluctant to take it on.

Ahiatudin turned up at the nomination centre today with over 200 supporters clad in green and bearing PAS flags.

In the 13th general election, Najib defeated PKR’s Fariz Musa with a 51,278-vote majority.

This time, Najib is taking on Ahiatudin, Bersatu’s Zahid Mat Arip, and independent candidate Abd Kadir Haji Sainuddin.

Abdul Kadir, a former PKR member, had quit the party after not being nominated by the party for the seat.

He said his intention was to end Najib’s reign.

“People here don’t like Najib. They want Najib to step down,” Abdul Kadir said when met at the nomination centre today. – April 28, 2018.
