Wanted: Malaysians to do the right thing

The Malaysian Insight

FIRST things first, the days of sitting on the fence are long gone.

The option of being indifferent to various moves to distort the rule of law, to pervert the course of natural justice and to junk the concept of fairness in the run-up to GE14 should have expired.

By now, Malaysians must realise that the call to vote and save the country is not something extraordinary. No demands are being made of us to be heroic.

All we have to do is search our conscience and do the ordinary thing of making a difference.

Ordinary?

Yes, ordinary.

Because standing up for what is right should be pretty normal to all of us.

The following questions may provide a road map of sorts:

1) Are you happy with the direction beloved Malaysia has taken over the past few years?

2) ‎Should our leaders be upright individuals or is it all right for them to be pockmarked by scandal as long as the country is politically stable?

3) Would you prefer living in a country more united and accepting of each other or it doesn’t matter if we live in our racial enclaves and silos?

4) Are you satisfied with our headline economics numbers or do you believe that wealth should be better distributed in Malaysia?

5) Do you have confidence in the police, judiciary, anti-corruption agency and other institutions?

These are just some basic questions that we need to answer.

May 9 is about Malaysians taking charge of our destiny. – April 28, 2018.
