2,000 join Dr Mahathir at Langkawi nomination centre

MORE than 2,000 supporters accompanied Pakatan Harapan chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad to the nomination centre at the Land and District Office on Pulau Langkawi, Kedah, today.

The supporters waved PKR flags and banners printed with Dr Mahathir’s picture, while shouting slogans like “Long live Tun”, “Pakatan Harapan” and “Reformasi”.

Dr Mahathir and his wife, Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, were accompanied by their children, Marina and Mokhzani.

One of those present who only wanted to be known as Hamzah said he came all the way from Terengganu to show his support for Dr Mahathir.

“I arrived last night, and after the nomination, I will return to Terengganu,” said the 60-year-old man.

“I believe Tun will win big and will bring change to this country.”

Another supporter, Fila, 35, said she had been waiting for Dr Mahathir to arrive since 7.30am.

“I want to be with Tun on this historical day and ensure that he wins big,” said Fila, who is registered to vote in the Langkawi parliamentary constituency and the Kuah state seat.

“Najib Razak will lose power after this.”

During the 13th general election, Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Nawawi Ahmad defeated PKR’s Ahmad Abdullah for the Langkawi seat by 11,861 votes. – April 28, 2018.
