ALL of PAS’ federal lawmakers voted against the re-delineation report yesterday except for the Islamist party’s president, Abdul Hadi Awang, and information chief, Nasruddin Hassan Tantawi.

DAP’s parliamentary whip Anthony Loke said the 11 PAS lawmakers in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday when the vote was held were part of the 80 opposition MPs who did not support the report.

“PAS voted against the bill except for Hadi, he didn’t even come,” Loke told reporters when met at Parliament.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said Hadi, the Marang MP, was absent because he had an important meeting.

“Marang (Hadi) came in the morning but had an important appointment and Temerloh (Tantawi) was on medical leave,” he told The Malaysian Insight in a text message.

BN used its majority to push the re-delineation report through with a bloc vote at 5.15pm yesterday, with 129 lawmakers in support and 80 against.

PAS won 21 seats in the 2013 general election, but seven are now in splinter party Amanah and one in PKR.

The Malaysian Insight has contacted Hadi’s aide and is awaiting response. – March 29, 2018.

  • He probably peed himself that morning and couldn't afford a replacement sarong, so he had to stay back at home and blow on his sarong to dry it off.
