AMANAH’s Simpang Jeram candidate Nazri Abdul Rahman said he will keep the late Salahuddin Ayub’s plans for the constituency on track if he is elected.
“If I am destined to win the seat on September 9 (polling day), I will continue plans by the late assemblyman (Salahuddin) during his tenure,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.
The seat fell vacant when Salahuddin, who was also Pulai MP and domestic trade and cost of living minister, died of brain haemorrhage on July 23 at 61 years old.
Nazri, 56, an engineer, works at the Muar Municipal Council.
Earlier today, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu announced Nazri as Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Simpang Jeram by-election while Suhaizan Kaiat, former Johor assembly speaker, is the PH candidate for the Pulai by-election. – Bernama, August 19, 2023.
