THE Health Ministry (MOH) will suggest to the Election Commission (EC) to adopt the existing Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) for the state polls and the Kuala Terengganu by-election, said its minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

Speaking to the media after launching the National Month and the Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2023 in Putrajaya today, she said the ministry will discuss potential revisions or improvements to the SOP with several agencies.

The SOP, as used in the November general election, states those who have Covid-19 were allowed to vote under certain rules.

“We will discuss if it is necessary to carry out measures different from the normal SOP and will discuss with the EC, the National Security Council and other agencies if there needs to be other procedures for improvement,” she said.

Polls in six states will be held on August 12 along with the Kuala Terengganu by-election. – Bernama, July 20, 2023.
