2 dead, 4 injured in Pan Borneo Highway crash

TWO Indonesian nationals were killed and four others seriously injured when their Proton Waja reportedly slammed into the rear of a 4x4 wheeled vehicle on the Pan Borneo highway at the Lubok Antu intersection, some 265km from Kuching, just before noon today.

Police have yet to release the names of those involved but the Fire and Rescue Service Department stated the dead were the driver and front seat passenger.

The department said it dispatched a team from its Betong station, 31km from the site of the incident, who had to use specialised rescue tools to cut the mangled car open.

The four injured men were taken to Sri Aman hospital 84km away for treatment, while the deceased were taken to the same hospital for post-mortem.

The driver of the Toyota Hilux, a 60 year-old, was unhurt in the collision. – May 4, 2023.
