DEPUTY Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof refused to comment on Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) alleged plans to topple Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s government, describing the news portal that reported the alleged plan as “unreliable”.
“I would not comment on something which is not reliable,” he told reporters at his Hari Raya open house in Kuching today.
“Who (owns) The Vibes? I don’t know who owns it (or) if it’s reliable.
“I only rely on established (media),” he said when pressed for comment.
Quoting sources, The Vibes reported there were those within the political sphere who were out to unseat the prime minister.
The portal named MCA president Wee Ka Song and the party’s Tanjung Piai MP Wee Jeck Seng as among the 10 MPs who were part of the plan.
Wee denies that neither he nor MCA are involved or knows anything about the plot.
Describing The Vibes report as “baseless”, Wee also demanded the portal show proof how he and Jeck Seng were involved.
Fadillah, the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) senior vice president, nonetheless said he had not been approached by anyone linked to the alleged plot.
“I’ve not been approached. Nobody approached us (Gabungan Parti Sarawak).”
He reiterated that the four-party Sarawak’s ruling coalition, GPS, of which PBB is the lynchpin, was firmly behind its stated goals in joining Anwar’s Pakatan Harapan (PH)-led unity government.
The other three component parties are Parti Rakyat Sarawak, the Sarawak United People’s Party and the Progressive Democratic Party.
“GPS has repeated many times, the premier (Abang Johari Openg) and myself, that what we (GPS) want is a strong, stable government that focuses on putting Malaysia back on the right track of economic recovery and on the well-being of the people.
“If we keep on politicking, (then) we’ll slip further behind our Asean neighbours,” he said. – April 25, 2023.
