HUMAN Resources Minister V. Sivakumar was questioned again by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in connection with an investigation into government contracts worth millions of ringgit, a source said.

A Malay-language daily had reported that the anti-graft agency was calling up more people to assist in its probe into allegations of bribery.

“The testimonies may involve several witnesses who are ministerial officers, contractor companies, and agencies under the ministry,” said the source.

“A leader of a political party who is in charge if the party’s finances, who is linked to the minister, may perhaps be summoned.

“So far, it is understood that the MACC once again took down the statement of the minister after he went to its headquarters in Putrajaya.”

Meanwhile, FMT reported that an aide to Sivakumar had denied that the MACC had grilled the DAP lawmaker again.

Several reports said the MACC had searched Sivakumar’s home and office. The minister told reporters that his home was not raided but rather visited by MACC officers.

One of his Sivakumar’s aides and a recruitment agent were arrested last week in connection with the case.

A day later, another suspect identified as Sivakumar’s private secretary was also arrested.

All three have since been released on bail. – April 19, 2023.
