THE police will be offering discounts on traffic summonses at RM50 from Friday till May 21 in conjunction with Raya, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said.

He said this discount will apply to summonses issued in 2022 or earlier.

Anwar said police are committed to ensuring optimal road safety during the festive season.

“To ensure the smooth travel of road users in conjunction with Hari Raya, the police will implement Op Lancar on April 18 and 19 focusing on congested areas.

“Op Selamat 20 will be implemented starting April 20 for seven days with the theme ‘Safe Home, Reach Your Destination Safely’,” he said in Putrajaya today.

Anwar said to ensure smooth travel, police will be cooperating with other agencies including Rela and the Civil Defence Force.

This, he said, is to ensure there is no traffic congestion at hotspots, especially at toll plaza entrances and exits.

On April 15, Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said all police machinery will be mobilised during Raya, in addition to requesting Rela’s help.

“The machinery will be mobilised holistically and systematically to ease traffic congestion on highways and state and municipal roads.

“The main focus of the operation is to ensure smooth traffic flow, minimise road crashes, ensure the safety of property and residential premises, and reduce burglaries during the festive season.” – April 18, 2023.
