Unhealthy API readings in Segamat, Cheras, Tanah Merah

SEGAMAT in Johor, Cheras in Kuala Lumpur and Tanah Merah in Kelantan recorded unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) readings as of 3pm this afternoon.

Based on the Malaysian Air Pollution Index Management System (Apims) website, Segamat’s API rate showed a reading of 152, Cheras 106 while Tanah Merah, 104.

The API reading in Segamat and Tanah Merah increased from 96 and 102 while Cheras recorded a slight decrease compared to 107 recorded at 12 noon yesterday. However, both readings are in the unhealthy category.

API readings between 0 to 50 are categorised as good, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 300 and above as hazardous.

A total of 68 monitoring stations recorded moderate readings, with Kota Bharu, Kelantan recording the highest figure of 100, followed by Kuala Terengganu, 95, Nilai, Negri Sembilan (94), Putrajaya (93), Jerantut, Pahang (89), Minden, Penang (89), Alor Setar and Tangkak 88 each. – April 16, 2023.
