PRIME Minister Najib Razak has it all going into battle in late April.

He has foreign experts, who have used big data and other analytics to help foreign politicians, win the 14th general election (GE14).

He has the power of incumbency that allows him to use the machinery of the state and the media to dish out goodies and if need be, inspire or even instil fear in the hearts of Malaysians.

He is supreme in Umno and does not have to worry about warlords trying to undermine him. The likes of Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Hishammuddin Hussein are too weak to mount any leadership challenge.

But the main reason Najib and his advisers believe that victory will be theirs at GE14 is the chummy and strong relationship that the Umno president has forged with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

This friendship will deliver what Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) desire most: three-cornered fights in all constituencies in the peninsula.

On paper at least, by fielding candidates in 130 federal seats, PAS hopes to play the role of spoiler and pull away votes from the Malay electorate that would have gone to – Pakatan Harapan.

At the very least, PAS leaders do not want the party rank-and-file to follow their heart and vote for the PH candidate. They believe this scenario could happen if there are straight fights between BN and PH.

So, the directives have been sent down by the PAS leadership to local divisions to field candidates and ensure that there are three-cornered fights across Peninsular Malaysia.

What is driving Hadi’s strategy?

A combination of disdain for PH and a belief that a BN victory will ensure continued Malay political supremacy and keep non-Muslims on the sidelines.

Also the confidence that the Malay-Muslim ground will support such an alliance to run the government against one that is more multiracial and diverse in political beliefs.

And the belief that most Malaysians have no regard for a Dr Mahathir Mohamad-Anwar Ibrahim pact going into GE14.

Will it succeed?

The numbers show it is an uphill battle for PH with Dr Mahathir’s Bersatu and Amanah to win over the Malay-Muslim ground from the better known Umno and PAS.

And that is enough for the prime minister and his newfound ally Hadi. – March 19, 2018.

  • Hadi's PAS is main problem and only Sarawak and Sabah can stop him but they only complain about their "rights" which is just money in reality.

  • And what else were we expecting as the next logical conclusion when in this country petty and large scale thieves are left off by our justice system, as are human rights abusers. Corruption is brushed off as a non-issue when committed by a select group, as are racist and bigoted deeds and words.

  • Malaysians want to know why it is alright for Najib t receive a gift of RM 2.6 billion cash in his personal account and not alright for Lim Guan Eng to receive a gift of RM 1 million in discounted price for the purchase of his home? If AG accepts Najib's statement that there is o string attached to the gift, why cannot AG accept that the sale was on a willing buyer and will seller basis with no string attached. AG practices double standard s on this alone, and he should be sacked when Pakatan Harapan takes over. The new AG will find out whether the gift had been returned as the current AG claims.

  • Pakatan will lose because 1) Malaysians don’t know which side pakatan is on and 2) because pakatan acts and talks as if they are better than us.

Pakatan will lose because Malays think pakatan is with the Chinese and the Chinese worry that pakatan will go to the Malays and the Indians don’t think that pakatan has a place for them.

Also pakatan harping on how the goverment is corrupt sounds to a Malaysian as if pakatan is acting as if it is better than everyone else. That and the fact that pakatan makes it sound as if it is Malaysians that need pakatan to save us, and not we are the ones who are giving pakatan an oppurtunity, makes pakatan look arrogant - malaysians don’t mind corruption , but if one thing Malaysians cannot stand , it is someone acting as if they are better than us.

Three cornered contests engineered by the ruling govt, loaded delineation exercises and etc money politics are the secondary reason why pakatan will lose. The main reason is because no malaysian sure if pakatan is on their side and because pakatan always talking about things like integrity and principle , pakatan sounds arrogant.

This is the cold hard truth
