THE Education Ministry is resolving ongoing issues involving the dual language programme (DLP) that led to a protest by parents in Johor, said Deputy Education Minister Lim Hui Ying.

She said discussions are being held between the Johor Education Department and parents involved.

“The state Education Department has started discussions with parents involved in the matter. We will continue talks with them so both parties can have their voices heard,” she told reporters after attending a higher education institution exhibition in Batu Pahat today.

On March 26, the media reported that around 100 parents from SJKT Jalan Yahya Awal in Johor Baru held a peaceful demonstration over the sudden drop in the number of DLP classes at the school.

Lim said there are 2,240 DLP schools in the country – 1,613 primary and 807 secondary education institutions. – Bernama, April 8, 2023.
