SELANGOR Umno information chief Zein Isma today defended the distribution of his anti-opposition book at official school programmes in the state.
Zein said “Viral 3.0@Zeinisma, Transformasi Selangor Maju Bersama BN” was a compilation of his articles published in Umno-owned newspaper Utusan Malaysia, and was a personal project of his.
“I produced the books. It is my personal effort. All my published articles, I turned them into a book,” Zein told The Malaysian Insight.
The book was distributed through “official and unofficial party channels”, he said.
PKR Youth chief Nik Nazmi yesterday tweeted the book was recently distributed at a Parent-Teacher Association meeting in SK Saujana Utama, Sungai Buloh.
“The Selangor Menteri Besar and Penang chief minister cannot enter schools even for government programmes. Even I, as an exco for education, am not allowed.
“But Umno is free to distribute political materials in schools,” said Nik Nazmi on Twitter.
The articles in the book targeting Pakatan Harapan have titles such as “DAP kekal taiko Pakatan” (DAP is still the boss of Pakatan), “Kerajaan Selangor terlalu angkuh” (Selangor government too arrogant) and “Penyakit Pembangkan Menjelang PRU14” (The opposition’s disease ahead of GE14).
Zein said he was not sure how the book ended up at the PTA meeting, but did not deny copies of it were distributed at the school.
He said he had printed 30,000 copies and planed for 100,000 copies more before GE14.
“The book is everywhere in Selangor. I don’t exactly know how they got to the PTA meeting but they are everywhere.”
He dismissed the protests over the book’s distribution at schools, saying he had a right to publish.
“What is their problem? Why are they making so much noise? Nothing wrong in me printing books.
“If they do not like it, throw it away. Do not read it. Why make a fuss about it?” – March 18, 2018.
