Restoration of Sarawak’s dilapidated schools, clinics welcomed, says Abang Jo

SARAWAK Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg was full of appreciation for the Federal Government’s pledge to restore dilapidated schools and clinics in the state through the Budget 2023 that was tabled yesterday.

Abang Johari described the allocation of RM5.6 billion to Sarawak for development, announced during the Budget 2023, as the best.

“The Sarawak government will also continue to assist the rakyat, including building roads, providing facilities for electricity and water.

“Though Sarawak had started efforts to develop the state with funds from within the state government, we welcome the Federal Government’s commitment to give us funds,” he told reporters in Kuching today.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim who tabled Budget 2023 in Parliament had announced an allocation of of RM6.5 billion to Sabah and RM5.6 billion to Sarawak for development.

The state government will also start work on the restoration of 400 depleted clinics and 380 depleted schools with an allocation of RM1.2 billion, soon. – Bernama, February 25, 2023.
