TERENGGANU police will summon the organiser of an event involving a group of participants who marched with fake swords, spears and shields while clad in mediaeval Islamic war attire yesterday in Setiu.

Setiu district police chief Afandi Hussin confirmed that his men has contacted the organiser, Terengganu PAS Youth to help facilitate investigations into the programme.

“We are looking into it. Now we are waiting to see if a report has been made and what actions we can take from a criminal point of view. We are evaluating.

“We will inform you later (when investigations will be done),” he told The Malaysian Insight.

The picture of the event went viral today, showing a group of about 10 individuals dressed in white robes and green turbans while some in black uniforms.

The group was filmed marching down a street decorated with PAS party flags in the background.

A four-wheel drive vehicle was also spotted, carrying a large shape of a sword.

It is understood that the parade was part of the state’s PAS Youth gathering.

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang also attended the event.

However PAS Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said he was only invited for the event’s launch and was unaware about the march.

“I just saw the pictures this morning, and I find it strange.

“I didn’t join them,” he was quoted as saying by news portal Free Malaysia Today. – February 19, 2023.
