THE Human Resources Ministry has opened quota applications for the hiring of foreign workers in the laundry, scrap metal/item, and bird’s nest sub-sectors starting January 25.

In a statement today, the ministry said applications can be submitted through the Foreign Worker Centralised Management System platform under the FWe Approval module to obtain the Peninsular Malaysia Labour Department director-general’s approval to employ foreign workers, in line with the enforcement of section 60K of the Employment Act 1955 (Amendment 2022).

It said following approval from the director-general, quota applications can be made through the eQuota module on the platform.

The laundry and scrap metal/item sub-sectors are categorised under the services sector and regulated by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry and the Home Ministry, respectively, while the bird’s nest sub-sector is regulated by the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry. – Bernama, February 9, 2023.
